ARE WE ALONE? #5 Not Hardly!

"And I looked, and Behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of midst of the fire.
Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man." Ezekiel 1:4-5

UFO scholars believe that verse from the writings of the prophet Ezekiel, in the Old Testament to be the earliest written record of a UFO. There are many reference of visitors from the heavens in the Bible. When early man attempted to record these wonders they used the medium and descriptions with which they were familiar, "Flaming Wheels", "Chariots of Fire" and "Ships from the Sky" are a few. As long as man has been attempting to record important events in their life we find scores of references that could be interpreted as visits by ancient Astronauts; cave paintings in France, carving in Yucatan, and giant geoglyphs in the Andes. These geoglyphs are drawings in the ground measuring up to 300 meters long and can only be observed from the sky. There are hundreds of the mysterious figures scattered across the desert. They are believed to have been created by the Nazcan Culture between the 2nd century BC to 600 AD. Kind of makes you wonder if they had weather balloons and swamp gas too.

The acronym, UFO or Unidentified Flying Object was coined by the United States Air Force in 1952 after they had been tasked with the investigation of reported sightings. During the early 50"s there was a wave of UFO sightings. UFOs were seen around most of our military installations and unidentified flying objects made themselves known to the leaders of the free world in 1952 when thousands saw them flying in formation over the Capitol in Washington, D.C. They were picked up on radar at both the Washington National Airport and Andrews Air Force Base. Interceptor jets were scrambled but the crafts disappeared in a flash before they could make contact.

The early 50's saw the beginning of the first practical use of nuclear technology and ushered in profound changes in socio-political thinking and the development of new technology. This period saw the development of jets engines and aircraft started to routinely break the sound barrier. Major advances were being made in the field of guided missiles. Although the Cold war started at the end of World War II in 1945, by the early 50's the arms race between the U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R. was heating up. Both countries were committed to building rockets that would reach space.

Maybe it is just a coincidence that the 50's marked the beginning of the Atomic Age, the Race for Space and the escalation of hostilities between the two world superpowers and the marked increased UFO activity. Probably just a coincidence, yah, right. Boy, do I have a deal for you, Swamp land in Nevada.

Our visitors have traveled unfathomable distances from their home worlds and in modern time there are no reliable records to suggest they have attempted to aid us or to interfere with our evolutionary progress or regress, as the case may be. Their mission seems to be one of study and observation. In spite of our repeated attempts to shoot them down, there are no public records of our visitors retaliating with hostile action. They just kick it into Hyper-drive and leave like Hans Solo.

Don't you imagine that our visitors knew before they left their homes to come here to observe us, who we were, what we were about and perhaps were concerned for us in the same way an older brother might be for a toddler sibling that had gotten his hands on a loaded shotgun. I don't know, just wondering.

It is fascinating that there are so many depictions of aerial events and visitations, in nearly every culture, throughout history to present date.

The Sumerian clay tablets fascinate me the most because they are the basis for many future literary works, including Biblical text. There seems to be a kind of acceptance of the interaction between men and gods that is a common thread in these writings. Aside from the occasional flood and the "wars in heaven", the rest of life amongst the pharoahs, gods, flame shooting weapons, and flying methods of transportation seemed to be the norm.

I tend to think it's a darn good possibility that we jumped from the stone age to the internet in record time as a result. :)

BIMGO! We can't take too much credit for our progress as a species, we've had outside help.
